Does a car buying service actually save you money?

I want to buy a new saturn vue & the dealer says they are a set price -the no haggle saturn philosophy.

Does it pay to have AAA or other car buying service, price one for me? AAA says that they will automatically save you the 1,000 in the extra fees the dealer charges, if nothing else.

Some car buying services will save some people money. Depending on your negotiation skills, you may do better without paying them.

I have signed the Contract for buying a new car, But i really dont want that car.?

I have signed the contract by 7/2/2008 @ 10:00 pm with 2 checks and i had informed regarding my decision by 8/2/2008 @ 10:30 am. He is threating me that it will be credit history problem. But i did'nt even seen the car. Please guide me on proceeding further.
The real problem is, my project is getting over and i am going to my home country.
Yes i am in US and i have give the stop payment to the checks and the car is still in the dealers lot. Will there be any credit issues in this case?. Please advice.

If you are in the US, then until you take that car off the lot, it is not yours. Once you take it off the lot, you own it. Cancel the checks and go home!

When you bought/buy a used car, did you follow the Kelly Blue Book guide?

for the past months ive been searching for a used car and i noticed if i follow the Blue Book pirce guide, it's actually ALOT harder to find the "right" car. When i found the "right" car, the price is either too high or too low for the condition…according to the blue book.

Just wondering, did any of you follow the Blue book guide?
If you didnt follow the blue book, do you regret purchasing that car?

If you did follow the book, is there any problem that has occured which made you feel you hadnt followed the guide? For example : you wish you picked the other car

Kelley Blue Book is just a "guide". However a very good one. For instance, banks look at "book value" (Kelley value) when determining what a car is worth and therefore what amount they will finance.

So, if a car has a Kelley retail value of $15,000 and the dealership is trying to sell it at exactly $15,000 the bank will turn down the loan because after tax, title, tags, warranty, GAP, etc. you are WAY OVER the value of the new car.

Also, if you are trading a car in and you are "upside down" (you owe more than the car is worth) the difference is being added to the new vehicle loan which means that once again you are WAY OVER the new car's value and the bank won't do that.

This is why dealerships are always pushing you for "down payment." This brings down the amount you are asking the bank for and therefore the bank will say yes and the dealership doesn't have to lose money discounting the car!

Dealerships also look at the NADA (National Associationg of Dealer Auctions) to see what a car is going for on the auction circuit. This affects your trade-in value. For instance if Kelley Blue Book says your car is worth $5,000, but at auction there's 7 listed at $3,000, the dealership is NOT going to give you $5,000 because then they risk having to eat $2,000!

Bottom line. DO NOT pay full Kelley retail value for a car. Tell the dealership you'll pay a little over wholesale value. And know your trade-in value, but expect to get at least $500 below what Kelley says it's worth.

When buying a used car what are the do’s and dont’s and questions should I ask?

I need tips on buying a used car. Tips such as:Negotiate prices over the phone. Have them provide the car’s history(number of owners, damages if any, car problems like the engine and etc.).

You need to perform a thorough visual inspection of any car you consider purchasing. Begin by going over the body of the car carefully. Look at each panel from different angles and try to see if there’s is dust in the paint, (which would mean that panel’s been repaired/repainted), look for scratches and/or rust. Pay special attention to the bottoms of the doors, especially on the inside of the doors and look for rust. Open the hood and check the color of the oil. See if the battery has been changed. Look for cracks in the belts. Ask the seller if the car has been in an accident exceeding $2000, (he’s obligated to tell you). Ask him for any bills he may have kept of the vehicles service history, and go over them thoroughly. If the car has had a ton of repairs, it may be a lemon. Look at the tread depth of the tires, and finally, go for a road test and listen very carefully when going over bumps. Don’t forget to try all accessories, (wipers, a/c, radio, heater, etc) and make sure they’re all functional.

Looking for Best Tips on Buying a New Car and being upside down the loan?

Should I pay off the remainder of $3,500 on my current car first or just trade it in and be upside down on the loan?
Does it really matter? Am I not spending the money anyhow?
How much higher will my new car payment be with being upside down on the loan?

Well , if you owe $3500 on a car and your not sure that your car is worth it, leave it to the dealer to figure out how to handle it. If your new car shopping rebates can eat it, or the Used Car manager can over allow for your trade to make a deal on the last day of the month. Don't just pay it off, make it a negotiating point and get them to help. We are not talking about a lot of money becasuse you car has to be worth something. If you had a moderately high rate at 48 months it is $35 per 1,000 towards your payments. so if your car is worth nothing that means your payment will be an additional $122. Don't let it come to that. Good Luck on your negotiations on your new car!

Like signing the title over and what else? How do you sign the title over? I know it sounds stupid, but this will be my first car bought.

First ,,,go to your local motor vehicle licencing office,,and have a background check done on it,,make sure there are no outstanding debts on the car,,and if it comes up clear,,then all you gotta do is sign the papers and have fun

Is there any good guides to installing a new car stereo?

I am going to buy a new car stereo and am thinking of saving money and installing it myself, i have looked and have found no obvious way of getting my old one out. should i do it myself or get someone else to do it? is there any good guides out there explaining what to do.

If you dont know how to do it, or aren't familiar my advice is to let someone else do it. Paying someone $75-100 to install it will save you a ton of headaches.

I am a first time car buyer, looking to buy in about 6 weeks, I need help!!!?

I have done a lot of research and I've read tons of car buying guides so I'm pretty well prepared for the expected negotiations. Extra tips are always welcomed though. But I was wondering if I need to take anything with me, besides my checkbook and driver's license the day I go to purchase?

read this info. Everything you need to know to keep from getting SCR**ED by the dealer, and the top ten scams dealers use.

Also, never show any excitement over any car, as it gives them the edge. If you say "oh I just LOVE this color or model, they know they have you.
