When buying a used car what are the do’s and dont’s and questions should I ask?
I need tips on buying a used car. Tips such as:Negotiate prices over the phone. Have them provide the car’s history(number of owners, damages if any, car problems like the engine and etc.).
You need to perform a thorough visual inspection of any car you consider purchasing. Begin by going over the body of the car carefully. Look at each panel from different angles and try to see if there’s is dust in the paint, (which would mean that panel’s been repaired/repainted), look for scratches and/or rust. Pay special attention to the bottoms of the doors, especially on the inside of the doors and look for rust. Open the hood and check the color of the oil. See if the battery has been changed. Look for cracks in the belts. Ask the seller if the car has been in an accident exceeding $2000, (he’s obligated to tell you). Ask him for any bills he may have kept of the vehicles service history, and go over them thoroughly. If the car has had a ton of repairs, it may be a lemon. Look at the tread depth of the tires, and finally, go for a road test and listen very carefully when going over bumps. Don’t forget to try all accessories, (wipers, a/c, radio, heater, etc) and make sure they’re all functional.
